We've always been amazed and inspired by unique architectural builds using basic materials such as wood clad, natural stone and glass. We thought about creating something that would present a striking contrast to the surrounding countryside setting, but at the same time blend seamlessly into the surrounding landscape.
From initial sketch designs working with a bird hide concept, we decided grey driftwood cladding would comprise much of the exterior, along with large sliding glass windows which would reflect the outside views and surrounding environment. The interior reflects our love for natural materials, with wood and stone woven into the fabric of everything. Reclaimed materials, upcycled shelving and handmade pieces lend sustainability and character to every space. There's no denying that the spa area added complexity to the build, but it has most definitely become one of our most favourite features, particularly the layout and how the space helps you feel completely relaxed and immersed in nature! Our aim for The Hideaway was for it to be a sanctuary from city life and we think we've created just that! As well as the inside, we've carried out extensive work to the surrounding grounds with a private gated entrance, lounge seating areas for BBQ's and warming nights by the fire, a stairway boardwalk, raised deck for yoga and a pretty wildlife pond so that guests can use this as a real country 'well-being' retreat. We look forward to welcoming you to our country Hideaway; a place where you can switch off and tune into nature. It's likely that you will see our kids roaming the open gardens during your stay, they like to keep an eye on things! Chris & Emma |
